Ars Electronica (Linz, Austria), open call: Post-city - social coexistence in these cities of the future
What should—or what must—a city be like if it’s to live up to the challenges of the 21st century? In other words, what features will our urban habitats have after we’ve gone through the Digital Revolution, when the global shifts of political and economic power have taken effect, and climate change shifts into high gear?
POST CITY is the city afterwards, after what is perhaps the largest and most consequential upheaval in recent centuries has begun. Some see this development as a looming crisis; others call it a breakthrough into a better future.
For the lineup of preliminary events premiering this year, Ars Electronica is seeking innovative concepts and projects that deal with our social coexistence in these cities of the future. The projects should already be set up in June in PostCity, a former postal service logistics center, and remain on display there until the end of the Ars Electronica Festival on September 7. The entrants whose submissions in response to this open call are selected to be produced will be assigned a spacious venue in PostCity and a portion of the project budget of up to €50,000.
