Call for Applications: TACT 2020 Theatre Festival - Science Edition (Trieste, Italy)

On the occasion of the election of Trieste as European Capital of Science 2020, TACT Festival will be part of ESOF (EuroScience Open Forum) – Science in the City Festival.

The seventh edition will therefore present some news:

At least half of the selected shows will focus on the theme of science and innovation
Shows will be performed on an open-air stage in the historical city centre
It is possible to apply with production projects to be realized ad-hoc

SHARING:
TACT2020 is a festival built on the concept of “exchange’’. It is a real barter of artistic knowledge and techniques, thus the complete absence of awards and rankings. During TACT Festival, companies belonging to different artistic realities interact with each other.

It is therefore requested that:

Each company has to be actively present during the whole festival from the 5th until the 11th of July 2020, both included;
Attendees have to take part in one of the workshops for the whole week;
Each group has to present A PLAY which will be performed for the public.

YOUNG:
TACT is a “young” theatre festival; 70% of the group has to be under 35 years old. 10 groups will be selected and will have the chance to perform; each play must have at least 5 actors on stage (this criteria is not valid for the category “performance”)

INTERNATIONAL:
Companies from every nation can apply to join the festival. Plays will be performed in the original languages. English and Italian surtitles will be guaranteed during each performance; thus it is requested that each group send an English translation of the script, divided in surtitles for each scene, to the Organizing Committee before the 15th February 2020.

WHERE:
Shows will take place in two places of the city center, where open-air stages will be set.

TECHNICIANS:
Each group has to bring along a technician of his own. Along with a technician provided by TACT festival, he will coordinate the preparation of the audio and light settings.

BENEFITS:
TACT2020 will provide free accommodation, meals (breakfasts and dinners) and a remuneration according to the category the group applied for.

WORKSHOP:
Every company is invited to present a workshop proposal conducted by their own director or pedagogue. If, apart from the company, the proposed workshop is selected, the company will receive an additional bonus of € 500.
