Call for Submissions: Context Lab Competition for young choreographers from Russia
Deadline: June 30, 2018
Diana Vishneva's Context festival announces an open call for applications to participate in the annual competition for choreographers — Context Lab. The final round will be held this autumn at the next festival. Deadline for application submission is June 30 here.
The competition invites students of dance schools from all over Russia and those emerging choreographers who already have some experience behind their back. The winner of the competition will receive a grant to undertake an internship in a leading foreign dance company.
To participate in the competition, send us a two-minute video that explains the idea behind your future production that you will specifically create for Context. Diana Vishneva.
This year marks the 200th anniversary of French choreographer Marius Petipa and to celebrate this we’d love to see your productions inspired by his iconic works. Remember, it’s just a suggestion, not a requirement! We support modern choreography in all its diversity and we can’t wait to see what ideas and interpretations you come up with.
Every year the competition is a key event for the Context. Diana Vishneva festival — in autumn the finalists will have the opportunity to showcase their works at the festival and present them to the general audience in Moscow and Saint Petersburg and the panel of jury – maîtres of contemporary choreography. Since the beginning of the Festival more than 20 talented choreographers from Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Kiev and Yerevan presented their works to and received feedback from Diana Vishneva, Hans van Manen, Viacheslav Samodurov, Alexey Miroshnichenko, Samuel Wuersten, and Mats Ek.
