Derida Dance Center Bulgaria - open call for contemporary dance residencies 2016

Derida Dance Center in Sofia, Bulgaria opens a call for artistic residencies in the field of contemporary dance and performance for 2016.

How many residencies will happen?
Four residencies will happen for contemporary dance artists coming from outside of Bulgaria.

When will the residencies happen?
Each residency will last 20 to 30 days. The applicants can express their preferences for a 20 to 30-day period of rehearsals within the time frame August 1st – Sept 30th 2016.

What are the conditions of the residency?
Derida Dance Center will provide space and technical equipment (sound system) for rehearsals. Each residency will receive a sum of 600 BGN (around 300 euros) for travel expenses. Accommodation will be provided by Sofia Municipality – a partner and main financial supporter of Derida Dance Center Residency Program. Daily and any other kind of expenses are NOT covered and are responsibility of the residents.
At the end of the residency either a complete performance or work in progress needs to be presented in Derida Dance Center. 
Each resident is required to lead a 10-hour workshop with local dancers (5 days, 2 hours per day). At the end of the workshop a presentation of the results will be done in Derida Dance Center.

How can you apply?
In order to apply for a residency, you need to download, fill in and send the application file to [email protected] 
All the applications will go through a selection process and the applicants selected for a residency will be informed by e-mail by Feb 15th.

What is the final date for application?
The final date for sending the application form is January 31st. The chosen applicants will receive an e-mail by Feb 15th.
