Open call for contemporary dance works: Sesc Dance Biennial 2017 (Brazil)

MP

The Sesc Dance Biennial 2017, to be held from September 14 to 24, in the city of Campinas (70km from Sao Paulo capital), has announced an open call for artistic works of contemporary dance. The deadline to apply is 24 April.

Created in 1946, Sesc - Social Service of Commerce - is a private institution maintained by the business of goods, services and tourism trade to serve primarily its workers. In its broad cultural action, Sesc Sao Paulo develops glances, reflections and zones for contemporary dance and its social actors through a constant offer of performances, talks, workshops and experiments.

Amongst its initiatives, the Sesc Dance Biennial aims to present to the audience a diversified panorama of contemporary dance, selected by a careful curation based on the aesthetic and political issues that move the field in the present. The program is composed by national and international shows in different configurations such as classical stage, black boxes, alternative rooms or open air and digital media, as well as interventions, performances, exhibitions, workshops and processes, all for different age groups.

The Sesc Dance Biennial has been concerned of expanding the limits of artistic expression and has sought, over the years, a closer relation with its host city, with other expressions, and between work and audience, having achieved projection both nationally and internationally.

Registrations can be done until 24/4/2017, through the online form, available at: http://bienaldedanca.sescsp.org.br/
