Techne: Call for Proposals - Cooperation between art and technology

MP

Techne is a project conceived between Künstlerhaus Stuttgart and Theater Rampe.

The title refers to the pre-socratic use and understanding of 'téchne' as a unity of art and technology. This is a project which extends the emphasis on the interdependence and slippage of terms, and explores the stakes of this intersection on ethical, economic and aesthetic levels.

Taking the form of a performing and visual arts production platform, Techne extends between November 2016 and December 2017. The project is presented through various formats, including workshops, performances, dinners, publications, talks and conversations, culminating in an exhibition at Künstlerhaus Stuttgart and a festival at Theater Rampe in November 2017.

The organisers welcome proposals for the theatre venue and the art space with an emphasis on the intersections of these platforms.

Techne offers:

  • Core finance and fundraising support
  • A work space and production residency for up to 4 weeks
  • Technical and dramaturgical/curatorial support
  • Support in cooperations with regional high-tech companies and research institutions
  • Public presentation within the running programme at Künstlerhaus Stuttgart and/or Theater Rampe

Proposals have to include:

  • A project description (1 – 2 pages) with supporting visual material
  • A budget calculation (if co-production and fundraising possibilities are available please include)
  • A portfolio or CV including contact details and if available website link

Please submit to [email protected] by 12 September 2016. Proposals are welcomed in German or English.

Techne is funded by the German Federal Cultural Foundation (Kulturstiftung des Bundes) and the Federal State of Baden-Württemberg.

The project website can be found here (scroll down for English).
