20th International Dance Theatre Festival, Lublin, Poland

BMF

International Dance Theatre Festival has been one of the most important cultural events in Lublin since 1997 when the first edition took place. With time the event became also one of the most significant dance theatre festivals in Poland and Europe. The main idea of the Festival is mutual understanding, exchange of experiences and inspiration between Poland, East-Central Europe and Western Europe and the other parts of the world. The organisers believe that contemporary dance is an extraordinary medium of the perception – an art without borders and language barriers, which is democratic and open to new fields of culture. Contemporary dance is a form of art addressed to a sensitive viewer who looks for authenticity in cultural events. The aim of the next edition of the Festival is to present the best shows performed by professional dance theatres from around the world, to promote Polish artists searching for a possibility to show their art and take part in the discussion about contemporary dance and to support amateur groups which transform into new, original, professional dance theatres. International Dance Theatre Festival in Lublin is an event which develops and promotes the idea of voluntary work engaging a group of young people who help during the organisation of the event. Volunteers are usually students from our city, for whom the work during the Festival is a great opportunity to gain experience and expand skills acquired during their studies.
