I, CULTURE Orchestra 2015 Auditions

I, CULTURE Orchestra (ICO) is a team of talented young musicians from Poland and Eastern Partnership countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine, established by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute in 2011. To date, the ICO has arranged 3 residence programmes and 29 concerts in 22 cities in 15 countries. The musicians have been coached by prominent leaders of the world’s best orchestra ensembles and performed among others in the Berlin Philharmonic (2011), the Royal Festival Hall in London (2011), Teatro Real in Madrid (2011), and the Harpa concert hall in Reykjavik (2013). The ICO concerts have featured in 2014 among others in the programme of the Edinburgh International Festival and the Baltic Sea Festival. The ICO has performed with acclaimed soloists including Arabella Steinbacher, Agata Szymczewska, Alena Baeva, Peter Jablonski, Truls Mork, Khatia Buniatishvili, Johannes Moser, Alice Sara Ott, Simon Trpceski.

All editions of the I, CULTURE Orchestra since 2011 have brought together 500 musicians. The fifth edition in 2015 will gather as many as 110 musicians!

The first stage of the I, CULTURE Orchestra 2015 auditions is opening now. It is available online as usual. Musicians aged 18 – 28 years may register on the website www.auditions.orchestra.culture.pl.

Online registration: open until 11 January 2015

Deadline for submission of recordings: 16 January 2015

The second stage is scheduled for March 2015. The new composition of the I, CULTURE Orchestra will be announced in May. Selected musicians will met in August at a residence programme in Gdańsk. They will then perform under Kirill Karabits in Germany, France, Ukraine, and Georgia. Karabits, who received the 2013 Conductor Award from the Royal Philharmonic Society, will be working with the ICO for the third time. The Royal Philharmonic Society on Kirill Karabits: “A musician whose charisma, imagination, scholarly intelligence and vivid communication have touched audiences wherever he performs.”
