Idea Camp 2015: Build the City
September 22–25, 2015

Stockholm, Sweden

The European Cultural Foundation (ECF) is issuing an Open Call for innovative ideas involving communities and culture in the shaping, governing and re-inventing of our cities and their surroundings to contribute to our Idea Camp 2015 – Build the City. ECF is encouraging ‘idea- and change-makers’ to re-imagine and re-invent the city as part of our focus on Connected Action for the Commons.

Build the City – the theme of ECF’s Idea Camp 2015 – is about applying the principles and ethics of the commons to the transformation of the city, its communities and its economy. We are looking for proposals that explore how people work together to develop their cities, neighbourhoods, suburbs or villages in more sustainable ways, through social cooperation and active participation.

We will choose the 50 most exciting and innovative ideas. The selected applicants will be invited to ECF’s second annual Idea Camp, which takes place in Sweden from 22–25 September. The Idea Camp is a place to support open collaboration and exchange, and to create strong cross-sectoral collaborations. The deadline for applications is Monday, 13 April 2015.

The Idea Camp will be developed in collaboration with the six Networked Programme hubs: Subtopia – (co-hosts, Sweden),Culture 2 Commons (Croatia), Les Têtes de l’Art (France),Oberliht (Moldova), Platoniq (Spain), Political Critique (Poland). Participants in the Idea Camp will have the opportunity to work with the hubs and benefit from their expertise in relation to the Commons and the role of culture and communities in democracy, as well as meeting key thinkers and policy makers.

Following the Idea Camp, the participants will be invited to submit a concrete plan for further investigation of their ideas. 25 proposalswill be selected and consequently awarded with an R&D grant up to a maximum € 10.000.
