Open Call for art&science @ ESO - Residency Award

After a successful first cycle of the art&science @ ESO – Residency Award, the partnership continues and Ars Electronica together with the European Southern Observatory (ESO) launches the second open call for the Residency program.

Artists from any country are invited to apply for a residency at the ESO in Chile. This call is open for digital artists, innovative concepts and ideas in the field of art, science and technology.

The Residency is divided in two parts – with an initial 2-6 weeks at ESO, where the winning artist will have a specially dedicated science mentor to inspire him/her and his/her work. After a first introduction and coming together at the ESO offices in Santiago the dedicated artist will be able to choose her/his preferred residency place which can be ALMA, La Silla, Paranal or APEX.
The second part will be a month with the Ars Electronica Futurelab team and mentor at Ars Electronica Linz with whom the winner will develop and make new work inspired by the ESO residency.

The winning artists will receive a residency (no prize money).
In addition, accommodation, an artist fee in the amount of € 3.000,-and travel are funded from a designated limited fund for all residencies.

The final work and the results are going to be showcased at the Ars Electronica Festival 2016 in Linz and in the framework of modular, mobile exhibitions at the institutions of the seven cultural partners (Center for the promotion of science, RS – DIG Gallery, SK – Zaragoza City of Knowledge Foundation, ES – Kapelica Gallery / Kersnikova, SI – GV Art, UK – Laboral, ES – Science Gallery, IE).

The entry period for a residency award in the framework of the European Digital Art and Science network is 15th of October 2015 to 29th of November 2015 (23:59 UTC+1).
