Concept: EXPEDITIO2 Sustainable Development Education Centre

For the majority of people the concept of sustainable development is still an abstract term. The reason lies partly in the fact that this concept is still considered an academic issue, rather than something connected with the daily activities of community members. The idea of EXPEDITIO2 Centre is to establish a place where locals, as well as people from SEE region will have opportunity to learn about and practice (often in a “learning-by-doing” manner) sustainable development principles permanently throughout the year.  EXPEDITIO2 Community Centre will be established as an example of energy efficient structure which promotes landscape approach. The process of construction will be participative (engaging community members and volunteers) and will involve sustainable design principles (recycling, energy efficiency etc.). The area around will be organized in a way to include various aspects of green approach (organic growing, permaculture etc.). Once the complex is built, it will be used as a place for permanent education and “learning-by-doing” practice promoting sustainable approach for the benefit of local community and people from SEE region.
