Description
Information about institution:

Music, dance, theatre, performance and fine arts in the former industrial buildings of the Ruhr Area: that‘s the Ruhrtriennale. The venues of the Ruhrtriennale are the region’s outstanding industrial monuments, transformed each year into spectacular sites for impressive arts productions. At the center of all this are contemporary artists seeking a dialog with industrial spaces and between the disciplines.

From 2015 onwards, this art festival will be taking place under the artistic direction of the Dutch director Johan Simons. The theme of his programme in these three years will be “Seid umschlungen” (be embraced) – a gesture of social, political and geographical embracement. The spectacular performance venues include the Jahrhunderthalle Bochum, the Zollverein World Heritage Site Essen, the Duisburg-Nord Landscape Park and, for the first time in 2015, the mixing hall of the Lohberg colliery in Dinslaken.

The Ruthiennale festival is a partner of EEPAP.
