International Summer School for Theatre Curators, Ukraine

Time: July 23rd – August 4th (all days except Sunday)

The International Summer School for Theatre Curators is an educational course initiated by the Les Kurbas National Centre for Theatre Art.

Its goal is to create a new generation of theatre curators who can advance professionally in the development of different theatre acting forms.

Les Kurbas National Centrum for Theatre Art

The project task is to develop and define goals, possibilities, tasks and the role of curators in Ukraine using international practices. It is also an opportunity to gain practical skills and theoretical knowledge about working in the theatrical field. In particular, it includes presentation of successful case studies focusing on contemporary theatre processes, theatre management, theatre project development and the provocation of the new theatre-project activities.

A number of workshops, lectures, practical works, presentations and Skype-conferences are planned to take place during the Summer School. They are lead by curators from Ukraine, Poland, Serbia, Slovenia and the Netherlands. The themes include the issues of fundraising, organization of festivals and happenings, copyrighting, PR-campaigns etc. Study visits to Kharkov are also planned during the program.  

The participants of the Summer School are to develop independent curatorial projects with the help of their tutors.

The participants of Summer School will get certificates from the Eastern European Performing Arts Platform (Poland).

The main project partner is the Eastern European Performing Arts Platform (EEPAP, Poland).

Partners: Polish Institute in Ukraine, Modern Art Research Institution (Ukraine), Perfect Art Institution (Kiev/Stockholm).
