The Birmingham European Festival’s program contains works of artists that is crossing borders in linguistic, cultural and artistic terms, and has the potential to inspire people of all nationalities. The festival takes place from July 2nd until July 7th 2013 in Birmingham and serves as a powerful showcase opportunity seeing as the performances are watched by both national and international  audience.

Companies who performed at BE have since been shown at the London International Mime Festival, The Barbican, South Bank Centre, The Lowry at Salford Quays Manchester, Warwick Arts Centre, Bilbao ACT Festival, Rome Short Theatre Festival, Sarajevo MESS Festival, Skena Up in Prishtine, just to name a few.

Furthermore, the festival serves as an opportunity to explore ideas and form collaborations with performers from different parts of Europe. Companies get free access to world-class workshops, feedback sessions and discussions.

BE FESTIVAL 2013 are offering the following prizes:
- one Development Prize: £1500 and a funded residency for the development of the winner’s work, and a performance of the created material at the BE FESTIVAL of 2014;
- the ACT Festival Prize: a funded performance in Bilbao;
- three UK Touring prizes: a funded, paid tour of 18 venues across the UK in Autumn 2013.
