development of contemporary performing arts (dance and theatre)
in 18 countries of Central and Eastern Europe.

Eastern Europe Initiatives Congress in Lublin, Poland, 1-3 October 2015

 

 

On 1-3 October 2015 the city of Lublin hosted the Eastern Europe Initiatives Congress which was co-organised by East European Performing Arts Platfom.

 

The EEIC aims at inspiring more effective and sustainable cross-border collaboration, strengthening development cooperation, and stimulating dialogue between local and regional authorities. On these days Lublin will become a place for dialogue between culture and education, local and central authorities, and creatives and decision-makers.

During the IV edition of the Eastern European Initiatives Congress, the participants will share their experience in political transition. The programme consists of 9 thematic strands: 25 years of self-government, Education and Science, Heritage, Contexts, Sustainable development, Intercultural cities, Turism, Security in Eastern Europe and Culture for development.

The “Culture for development” strand, which is scheduled for 3 October, was programmed by the EEPAP team. The strand consists of thress panel discussions:

  1. Transformational potential of avant-garde movements in art (panellists:  Svietlana Ulanovskaya, dance critic, Minsk; Istvan Szakats – activist, AltArt Foundation, Cluj; Natuka Vatsadze, performative artist, Bulion Group, Tbilisi; moderated by Dr. Bartosz Wójcik, literary critic, Centre for the Meeting of Cultures in Lublin
  2. Memory of the history - between politics and culture. Artistic interpretations and reflections on history the post-transformation countries (panellists: Dr. Oksana Dudko, historian and theatre curator, Centre for Urban History in Eastern-Central Europe and Art Workshop Drabyna, Lviv; Iulia Popovici, theatre curator and critic, Observator Cultural, Bucharest; Ida Daniel, director, Bulgaria; Tamas Jaszay, theatre critic, Budapest; moderated by Dr. Bartosz Wójcik, literary critic, Centre for the Meeting of Cultures in Lublin
  3. "Schengenland" and the rest of the world. The image of post-transformation and in-transition states (panellists: Taguhi Torosyan, curator and art theorist, Institute for Contemporary Art, AJZ space; Biljana Tanurovska-Kuljavkovski - curator and art theorist, Nomad Dance Academy, Skopje; Nadia Sokolenko - curator, theatre critic, Kiev; moderated by Joanna Wichowska - East European Performing Arts Platform curator, theatre critic
