Performance artists: Open call for emerging arts biennial (Bucharest, Romania)

MP

The 1st Edition of the Biennial for Emerging Art takes place between 7-10 October 2015 in Bucharest and functions as an artistic, political and social gathering. BAE will select, produce and showcase 6 young performance artists coming from Europe and the Middle East. The Biennial is committed to provoke new dialogical ways of thinking and making performance art and, for this, will put together those artists standing at the border of security, lawfulness and ethics.

The 6 young artists, through an intensive 10 days residency, coaching and research program will develop their ideas into solo works. The residency is personalised by international live artists Tania el Khoury and Farid Fairuz.

International travel, accommodation and a gross €450 artist fee will be covered by the organisers for each selected participant. All B.E.A.R events take place inside Arthale, a 900 sqm open space hall, historically used for producing large scale monuments.

Artists are invited to send ideas for solo performances to develop and show in premiere during the Biennial, by filling out the form below, before 31 August, 12 PM (GMT). Early applications are encouraged.

The 1st Edition of the Biennial of Emerging Art is produced by FAPT Company, funded by ARCUB through the “You’re Bucharest” program and supported by the Czech Centre, Forest Fringe, VICE Magazine, Romanian Association for the Promotion of Performing Arts – ARPAS, Romanian Artist Union, National University of Arts Bucharest, sub25 magazine.
