Call for music theatre projects - residency as part of the Feniks Festival, Belgium

To all singers, musicians, composers, actors and other artists who engage in experimental work in the music-theatre genre in all its forms and guises, WALPURGIS offers a 2- to 3-week residence between May and September 2016. The participants’ work will be shown to the public during the 2016 FENIKS FESTIVAL.

deFENIKS is a haven for the development, research, experiment, creation and presentation of adventurous multidisciplinary music theatre. Just a stone’s throw from Antwerp’s lively arts scene. Where artistic dialogue and cross-fertilization are stimulated and new joint ventures sounded out. Boundaries are sought out, explored and shifted, artistic projects are given the chance to mature and artistic talent is able to blossom.

deFENIKS is a member of Res Artis and has 5 multi-purpose rooms, a bar, kitchen and showers, plus a theatre with excellent acoustics, piano, sound and lighting installations and seating (120 seats).

At the end of September the WALPURGIS musical-theatre company will be holding the FENIKS FESTIVAL, international platform for adventurous and experimental music theatre.

In consultation with and subject to availability, a residency in deFENIKS MIGHT include the following:
- Work space in deFENIKS
- An interim presentation of up to 30 min. during the FENIKS FESTIVAL
- Technical and logistical support
- Accommodation
- Reimbursement of travel expenses
- Professional support and advice (artistic, business, production, communication)
- Guidance for local networking during the residency period

To qualify, the projects must not yet have premiered, must contain sufficient musical and theatrical elements and be submitted with a complete application package.
