Open Call: Magic Almond – performing arts in a mobile space (Berne, Switzerland)

BMF

Deadline: 10 November 2016

Open Call for Performing Arts

The Magic Almond is an art space on wheels, an old ambulance that has been transformed into an art space. Between May and Ocotber 2017 the Magic Almond will appear approximately 15 times on the Allmend Berne, which is a big common space area of the city for sports and recreation. A giant surface of green grass. The project is funded by the city of Berne and curated by the artist Ernestyna Orlowska.

Until the 10th of November 2016, artists can propose art works from the field of performance and live art for the Magic Almond. For each project there is a budget between CHF 500.- and 2000.-, depending on the size of the project. This includes material, travel costs and the artist fee. The Magic Almond is looking for art works that deal with the theme of the commons and the public space or deal with the spacial situation in an interesting way. New projects or existing projects can be proposed.

The space:

The private inside room of the ambulance can be used as well as the area outside of the ambulance. Reduced technical equipment can be provided.

The place:

The Allmend is mostly used in the afternoons and the weekends by sport teams or people walking their dogs. Sometimes there are special events, like the Asia Festival, a circus with their tents or the Swiss championship in chopping wood.

Deadline:

Proposals (max. 1 page), supporting visual material, a short CV, estimated budget (including travel costs and material) can be sent until the 10th of November to the following address:
