Open call for dancers: Visegrad/Turkish Culture Festival

MP

Moving Visegrad under 3rd Visegrad-Turkish Culture Festival is now accepting submissions for a contemporary dance artist residency programme taking place in the months of September and November 2017 in Budapest, Hungary and Istanbul, Turkey.

The organisers are looking for contemporary dance artists from the Visegrad region, including Hungary, Czechia, Slovakia and Poland. One artist from each country, together with two representatives of the Turkish contemporary dance scene, will be part of the intensive two-week exchange residencies in Budapest and Istanbul culminating with a final presentation in the cultural metropolis of Turkey in the second half of November 2017. The participants of the project will be requested to teach a master class or give a workshop during the residency, either individually or as a group. They will also be given an opportunity to perform their own pieces at a selected venue during the festival itself.

The deadline to apply is 24 July.

***

The project Moving Visegrad is part of the 3rd Visegrad-Turkish Culture Festival which has been organised annually in Istanbul, Turkey to promote the culture of Czechia, Slovakia, Poland and Hungary outside of their borders.

The year 2017 will mark the 3rd year of the festival’s existence and will open doors to a collaborative approach in performing arts, focusing this time on the field of contemporary dance. Moving Visegrad will take place during the months of September and November 2017 and is expecting to extend its activities to the following year.

The project will create a fertile ground for intensification of an active relationship between the artists and the culture makers in the field of contemporary dance and provide visibility for all the participating parties. It will offer the festival an opportunity to cross borders through active collaboration and enhance both cultural exchange and audience engagement.
