The artistic residency program at the Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art

a curatorial program addressed to creators from various disciplines as well as curators who have come to Poland from all over the world. We support our guests in the implementation of their artistic projects as well as encourage them to experiment in the fields of their particular interest. We understand residencies as a medium for artistic activities, allowing presentation under a different model than the traditional exhibition. We conduct research projects mapping the city, engaging local communities, and we also support the exchange of knowledge. We promote the idea of mobility in Poland and Eastern Europe. More information: https://u-jazdowski.pl/en/programme/residencies

The Adam Mickiewicz Institute

a national institute whose mission is to present Polish culture and heritage in an international environment, also through the website Culture.pl—an up to date service informing about the most interesting artistic events. In 2018, the Adam Mickiewicz Institute established the program VISUAL POLAND, whose aim is to support an international dialogue in the field of visual arts. This seems especially significant at a time when the presence as well as recognition of an artist in the world is not only about the value of his art, but also its direct impact. Activities taking place as a part of VISUAL POLAND include exhibition initiatives, promotion of artistic events, initiating research projects as well as effectively conducting them and—in cooperation with international publishing houses—supporting publications. It is important to note that Polish 20th century art, despite the political situation, has often been considered avant-garde in global trends, not always becoming a part of the international canon. The tasks constituting the essence of the VP program include constant and active cooperation with foreign partners, which allows Polish artists to partake in recognized artistic events as well as offers them the possibility of residencies. Discovering, introducing, and promoting the most pivotal phenomena of Polish visual culture in the world is a natural consequence of the globalization of art. Only effective inclusion into the contexts of the international art world will allow widespread recognition and appreciation of the historical as well as contemporary achievements of Polish artists, and thus their permanent presence in the world's cultural heritage. More information:www.culture.pl
