Open Call: Derida Dance Center Residency, Bulgaria

Derida Dance Center in Sofia, Bulgaria opens a call for artistic residencies in the field of contemporary dance and performance for 2017. We will select four contemporary dance artists outside of Bulgaria to be a part of this year’s program. Each residency can last 20 to 30 days. The applicants can express their availability for doing a residency for a concrete 20 to 30-day period within one of the following timeframes:

- 20.04-2017 – 20.05.2017
- 16.06.2017 – 17.07.2017
- 1.08.2017 – 31.08.2017

All applicants must specify which period they prefer and rate the rest in order of preference.
At the end of the residency, either a complete performance or work in progress has to be presented in Derida Dance Center.

Each resident/residency team is required to lead a 10-hour workshop with local dancers in training (5 days, 2 hours per day). At the end of the workshop, a short presentation of the results and the work process can take place in Derida Dance Center.

How to apply: In order to apply for a residency, you need to download and fill out the application form and send it to [email protected]  no later than March 20th 2017.
All the applications will go through a selection process and the applicants selected for a residency will be informed by e-mail by March 31st  2017.

Derida Dance Center will provide space and technical equipment (sound system) for rehearsals. Each resident will receive a daily allowance amounting to 30 BGN per day for a maximum of 20 days, maximum amount 600 BGN in total (this daily allowance is provided only to the principal choreographer/artist of the team).

Accommodation for the artists in residence within the frame of the program is provided by our partner and main financial supporter Sofia Municipality. Travel and any other type of expenses are NOT covered and are responsibility of the residents.
