IMPACT (International Meeting in Performing Arts and Creative Technologies) is launching an open call. The selected projects will be incubated in the IMPACT LAB and will result in a presentation during the FORUM IMPACT 2017 or 2018. IMPACT is a project developed within the framework of the Euregio Meuse-Rhine with the support of the cooperation program INTERREG V Euregio Meuse-Rhine, Wallonia and Deutschsprachige Gemeinschaft IMPACT is based on an euregional network of partners from academic, industrial and cultural area.

The IMPACT project, which was officially launched in June 2016, aims to federate a crosssectoral network of actors from the industrial, research, training and cultural sectors over the long term, to develop a sustainable platform whose main objective is to foster an innovative R&D policy based on the innovation potential of each of those sectors.

This platform will develop its activities around three main axes:

IMPACT LAB

Euregional Laboratory for Research and Development in Arts, Science and Technology. Collaboration between artists, researchers and companies. Presentation and demonstration of the prototypes in the IMPACT Forum (Fall 2017 and 2018)

IMPACT LEARN

IMPACT training hub Workshops, Open Labs and training for various audiences (children, young adults / students, professionals)

IMPACT FORUM

International Forum for Arts, Sciences, Technologies Forum IMPACT in Fall 2017 and 2018.

 

Call for projects

Projects must be based on a proposal for technological development within the framework of an artistic work. The projects can be of different nature: choreographic, theatrical, plastic, musical, installation, scenography, etc.

Projects can cover various technological developments (virtual reality, connected or luminous textile, interactivity and human-machine interface, sensors, visual and sound capture and diffusion techniques, new materials and intelligent materials, 3D imaging, holography, etc.)

Projects must clearly state the innovative nature of the approach and the research proposed and must demonstrate sufficient knowledge of the territory to be explored.

The projects will be the subject of a collaboration between one or more artists and researchers, in connection with a company located on the territory of the Euregio Meuse-Rhine (the research and development consortium does not have to be constituted at the moment of the application).

 

Who can participate:

All profiles are eligible, whatever their age, nationality and status: artist, director, choreographer, visual artist, musician, designer, engineer, researcher, entrepreneur ... in the fields of performing arts, visual arts and creative and cultural industries. However, special attention will be given to artists and creators from the Euregio Meuse-Rhine.

 

Selection criteria:

1. Relevance 

  • The artistic or scientific excellence of the project
  • The innovative nature of the proposed research
  • The quality of collaboration between artists, scientists and technologists
  • The adequacy of the project to the standards and values of the partners

2. Thematic

All proposals will be taken into account, with a preference for projects related to the performing arts. All technological research will be taken into account and particularly those that respond to a lack or need of the market and / or society.

3. Feasibility and quality of the partnership

The project must be feasible within a budget defined by the partners of the IMPACT project. The feasibility of the project will be analyzed in consultation with the experts in the fields concerned and the technological partners of the IMPACT project. In addition, projects must be able to adapt to the constraints and the context of the venue.

 

Conditions of the residence of research and creation:

IMPACT proposes to the selected project promoters a grant to be used to finance the R&D for the realization of a work to be presented in the framework of the Forum 2017 (November 2017) or 2018.

The amount of the grant may vary, depending on the projects, between 15,000 and 40,000 euros (including the fee). 

The format and the planning of the research and creation residence depend on the selected projects and will be established in consultation with the hosting venue.

 

The scholarship covers:

  • Residence and artistic fees
  • Research and technological development costs

The promoters of selected projects undertake:

  • To work in collaboration with the different teams that make up the partnership
  • To always keep the technological innovation in focus
  • Documenting the evolution of their work
  • To participate in workshops / Open LAB during the period of residence (1 day)
  • To work in collaboration with a company of the Euregio Meuse-Rhin
  • Present their work in the framework of the FORUM IMPACT in November 2017 or 2018.
  • As far as possible, to present their project in the context of promotional events (press conference, presence at a trade fair, conference, conference, etc.)
