European Capital of Culture Wroclaw 2016 together with Spichlerz Kultury Foundation and Zero Point Foundation would like to invite visual artists from all over Europe to take part in the first edition of interdisciplinary artist in residence programme called MixMediaLab (MMLab).  Out open call is addressed to artists active in the fields of photography, sculpture and urban arts. MMLab is the firt one of several artistic residencies implemented in cooperation with organizations from Lower Silesia in the framework of Artis-in-Residence Programme A-i-R Wro.

In its artistic exploration, MMLab will focus on the region of Lower Silesia – in Świdnica, Bagieniec and Osada Gaj (Gaj Village, near Kłodzko).  With the support of experienced curators,  residents will be able to develop their skills (including outdoor working) and present their art works.

During the ten day period of residence each artist will have the opportunity to prepare a specific work, designed to operate in a clearly defined place. The essence of this year’s edition of MMLab is to study the connections between art and space. The border area of Lower Silesia is a place with a great past and interesting history. The multicultural and multinational history of the region, different cultural threads – brought together with the migration’s wave after World War II – now is meeting the realities of a united Europe.
