CHOREOGRAPHY – POLITICALITY?

A meeting about the volume edited by Marta Keil

The meeting will be held in English; the book will be available for purchase.

“Politicality is also a decision about how you shape your relationship with the audience, about how to tackle a subject or let it go, about what to pay attention to, and what to let pass. It’s the arrangement of chairs in the audience, or not having chairs at all. The choice of the subject and the context. The social and economic situation you work in. The choice of whose case you speak for. It’s the context in which the performance is produced and shown. It’s also the decision to make the score or script widely available, or to lock it with copyright. Or the decision to abandon the project at all.”

The anthology “Choreography: politicality” co-published by EEPAP in December 2018 comprises several texts by eminent European and American artists and scholars investigating contemporary choreographic practice as political.

The meeting will be a conversation on the political of choreography between Marta Keil, curator and editor of the volume, dramaturge Guy Cools, and Joanna Leśniewska, curator.
