Competition for choreographers to be held between May 10th – 12th at the National Theater, Belgrade, in cooperation with the Association of Ballet Artists of Serbia.

The mission of the festival is to promote a wide range of dance styles and to introduce contemporary and up-and-coming trends to the wider audience and professionals.

Criteria:

  • originality and innovation in choreography
  • innovation in usage of space, music and other stage elements
  • balanced esthetics and style
  • high level of interpretation and performance

Competition requirements:

  • premiere performance of the choreography at the festival
  • maximum duration of choreography is 10 minutes

Awards:

An international jury of five members will award the three best choreographic miniatures with the following prizes:
1st prize: Hypo Alpe - Adria - Bank Award in the amount of 3000 €      
2nd prize:  Hypo Alpe - Adria - Bank Award in the amount of 2000 €     
3rd prize:  Hypo Alpe - Adria - Bank Award in the amount of 1000 €      

The following awards will also be assigned:
“Critics Award” (based on the three members - dance critics jury decision)
“Plaque Aleksandar Izrailovski” (awarded for distinguishing production segment)
“Audience Award”
“Encouragement Award” (for best Serbian choreographer at the Festival)

Applications:
Application has to arrive at the Festival head office at deadline
– April 5th 2012.

Festival registration consists of:

  • The completed application form (downloaded from www.fkmbelgrade.com)
  • A DVD recording of the choreography, or if the work is in progress, a part of the choreography

Completed applications should also be e-mailed to: [email protected] Receipt of applications will be acknowledged by e-mail. Please notice that DVD-s cannot be returned to the applicants.

Admission to the competition will be decided by the Artistic Council of the Festival after reviewing the video clips. The selected applicants for the festival will be informed by April 10th 2012. Selection for the competition finals will be held front of the jury and audience in the National Theatre on May, 11th 2012. The final evening and award ceremony will be held on May, 12th 2012. The selected choreographers must confirm their acceptance by April, 15th 2012.

The Festival will provide hostel accommodation (room and breakfast) for all invited competitors. Travel and health insurance expenses are not covered by the Festival.
